"performance blows me away..."
AW6500
I owned a pair of BP6 speakers 10 years ago, so I have some experience of the quality of Definitive Technology speakers. Recently I was in the market for outdoor speakers and decided to give the AW6500 from Definitive Technology a go and boy I'm glad I did! For an all-weather speaker, the dynamic range and low frequency performance blows me away. I foresee many years of enjoyment of these speakers on my deck. Highly recommended.

While looking for outdoor speakers for my patio I spent many months trying to find a speaker that had decent (most have none) bass response yet still retained quality sound. I expected to take a hit in sound quality with an outdoor speaker and was about to give up on finding any bass response whatsoever until I stumbled across these Def Tech speakers. While its no sub outdoors, I am amazed at the bass output. However the real treat is the sound quality! I now look forward to listening to music outside almost as much to listening on my main system. The highs are accurate and detailed and mid range is balanced nicely. It's kind of like having your own outdoor concert, lol. All in all, if you have the space for these I truly doubt you will find a better quality outdoor speaker.

All I can say is WOW. Recently I replaced a set of Bose that were mounted on the deck railing facing in with two sets of AW6500's mounted underneath the overhangs on either side of the dinette bumpout. Hearing these speakers in the store do them no justice. You can keep the volume low and get such a full rich sound, much better than I ever expected on my deck, probably one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I've had these speakers for a couple years now and they still amaze me everytime I hear them. I waited to do a review because I wanted to make sure they could hold up to the 10 degree winters and 105 degree summers we get here in northern Florida. They have done so and flawlessly. I highly recommend these speakers for anyone who is in the market for high-end, high quality outdoor speakers that are fully capable of competeing with just about every other brands "top of there line" indoor speakers. I love em!
