A Legend Reborn
Definitive Technology's first product in 1990 was a bipolar tower loudspeaker. The BP10 was the first step in building the company that stands 20 years later as the best selling and most honored brand of audiophile-grade loudspeakers in the USA. Later Definitive pioneered the concept of "powered towers" by incorporating powered subwoofers into Bipolar floor-standing speakers and dubbed them "SuperTowers." The BP-8060ST is a third generation BP SuperTower and makes use of our most advanced technologies, including a new patent-pending approach to bipolar speaker design called Forward Focused Bipolar Array, Digital Signal Processing amplifier and our patented BDSS driver technology. The BP-8060ST SuperTower is the crowning achievement of over 20 years of research and development to create the perfect balance of style, convenience, and most of all performance in a floor-standing loudspeaker.
The Most Advanced Technologies for the Most Advanced Performance
If you love great sound you must experience Definitive's BP-8060ST Bipolar SuperTower. Its combination of Forward Focused Bipolar Array™ technology (for rich life-like, room-filling, three-dimensional sound), built-in SuperCube® technology powered subwoofers (for lightning-fast, earthshaking bass), and our latest generation patented Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) midrange drivers, all housed in a rock-solid attractive enclosure, delivers unsurpassed sonic performance.

Bipolar technology creates a huge, three-dimensional soundstage
for every listener in the room
Bipolar Technology Brings Performances to Life in Your Home
Many experts and in-the-know listeners agree that bipolar speakers are superior for both music and home theater. With bipolar speaker technology each speaker incorporates two sets of drivers, one facing forward and the other facing to the rear so that the speakers radiate sound both forward and rearward exactly as sound is produced in real life. Forward Focused Bipolar Array™ technology is Definitive's patent-pending improvement to our original Bipolar designs. This new ground-breaking technology combines the huge life-like imaging benefits of bipolar design with improved pinpoint localization of soloists, greater placement flexibility, and superior intelligibility.
The sonic benefits you hear are dramatic! This unique technology provides you with a lifelike balance of early-arrival sound from the front facing drivers, which provides focus, clarity and location data, and reflected delayed sound from the rear drivers which conveys the lush three-dimensional soundstage of a live music or cinematic performance. This combination creates a huge soundfield which is rich, warm, ultra clear and vibrantly alive for every listener in your room. Most importantly, Definitive's bipolar speakers make the walls of your room seem to disappear transporting you into the sound space of the recoded event. They will literally bring your music and movies to life in your home. One listen and you can never go back to conventional speakers again!
The Subwoofer System Will Rock Your World
Each BP-8060ST combines a built-in 10" subwoofer driven by a 300-Watt class D amplifier and two pressure-coupled 10" Low Bass radiators for 29% more surface area than a single 15" woofer but with better control, speed and detail than a single big woofer could ever deliver. The built-in powered subwoofers achieve dramatically better blending, integration and timbre accuracy than could ever be achieved with separate subs.
The brawny 300 Watt Class D amplifier features an integrated Digital Signal Processor (DSP) – in essence a mini computer – that equalizes the woofer system to extend and smooth the bass response, provides a phase coherent crossover to perfectly blend the subwoofer system with the midrange arrays for seamless high performance. Digital protection systems tightly monitor and control the woofer system to prevent distortion and woofer damage at ultra-high volume levels. The bottom line is the BP-8060ST's bass will rock your world like no other speaker anywhere near its price and size.
Why Built-In Powered Subwoofers Are Better Than Separate Subs
Besides eliminating the need for a floor space-hogging separate subwoofer, integrated subs offer dramatic performance benefits. First is the obvious benefit that you'll have two subwoofers in the room instead of just one for simply more bass output. Second, two subwoofers in the room reduce "standing wave" room resonances that create bass dead zones in the room. With two ST-8060STs you'll enjoy high impact bass throughout the room.
Most importantly the subwoofers are perfectly integrated with the mid/high section. Audiophiles often spend hours moving and adjusting their subwoofers' crossover and phase controls in pursuit of perfect subwoofer to main speaker "blending." With the BP-8060ST you won't have to go through that kind of hassle to get great sound. Definitive's engineers have perfectly adjusted the crossover and phase to achieve seamless blending and life-like sound. All you have to do is set the bass volume to match your room and taste then sit back and enjoy great sound.

Patented Technology Delivers High Definition Mids and Highs
Each BP-8060ST features a D'Appolito front array consisting of two cast-basket 4-1/2" second generation BDSS midrange drivers surrounding a 1"
pure aluminum dome tweeter housed in an acoustically isolated sealed enclosure. The drivers feature Definitive's patented Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) technology that supports the speaker cone at both the inner and outer edges allowing longer, more linear excursion for greater clarity and finely textured inner detail. A new patent pending Linear Response Waveguide™ smoothes off-axis frequency response and disperses sound over a wider area for crystal clear intelligibility for every listener in the room. The tweeter is a pure aluminum dome, which has been heat-treated to relax the crystal structure and then coated with a ceramic to produce extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess.
The rear array uses a single identical BDSS driver and the same 1" aluminum dome tweeter as used in the front array. Like the front array the rear array is housed in a separate sealed MDF enclosure to isolate the midrange drivers from the woofers' influence.
Slim Elegant Styling with Rambo-Like Brawn
All the driver and electronics technology in the world would be wasted if housed in a resonance-prone box. We devoted as much Design and Engineering attention to the styling and construction of the 8060's enclosure as any other part of its design. The tapered front of the enclosure serves to make it appear slimmer while also enhancing sound quality by minimizing cabinet diffraction distortion. The decorative high gloss end cap and bottom
panel add elegance to the matte black tower the way satin piping adds dash to a tuxedo. Each BP-8060ST occupies a mere 1 square foot of floor-space (including stabilizer feet) leaving plenty of room for furnishings.
But the enclosure's most important job is to be totally inert and resonance free so as not to color the sound. And that's just we did in engineering the BP enclosures. Wherever a driver is attached to the cabinet we placed a second layer of heavy MDF (a low resonance wood composite material) to prevent the drivers from imparting vibration to the rest of the enclosure. The sealed midrange enclosures also serve to provide bracing for the side walls while MDF cross braces near the woofer further stiffen the system. Tap on the side panels of a BP enclosure to hear the solid "thud" of a solid, well-damped cabinet instead of the hollow ring of a poorly constructed speaker. NOTE: the high gloss polymer composite end-cap is a decorative element; it is not part of the acoustical system.
The Proof is in the Listening
This extraordinary speaker sets a new reference standard for high-accuracy loudspeakers in its class and achieves equally superb performance with both music and movies. The BP-8060ST reproduces a silky smooth, incredibly detailed sonic image at lifelike volume levels with a sense of ease which is truly remarkable.
Movies and music are reproduced with unequaled purity, transparency and lifelike realism. These elegant, slender towers seem to disappear in a huge natural soundstage which extends in a three-dimensional arc beyond the speakers with front to back depth which recreates the illusion of live music or cinematic action being performed live in your room. This combination of high resolution, magnificent sound-staging awesome bass and explosive impact envelops you in the ultimate listening experience.
Now that you're thoroughly impressed with the technology and passion we've poured into every BP series product it is time to find a stocking dealer near you to audition this remarkable achievement of art and science.

"It is quite an achievement. "
"The Definitive Technology BP-8060STs, and the other models in Bipolar and Bipolar SuperTower series, are, to my knowledge, unique in incorporating a bipolar speaker design with a powered subwoofer. Although requiring painstaking effort to set up optimally, you will be rewarded with a remarkably wide and deep soundstage and a bottom-end which reproduces the lowest octave of recorded music, all in a tall, slim and elegant enclosure coming in at under $2000. It is quite an achievement...The BP-8060STs are a must audition for the music lover. I think you will be both as surprised and impressed as I was."

"Starting with Norah Jones 'Come Away With Me' SACD, the BP-8060ST absolutely nailed her sweet vocals, and when her drummer used brushes instead of sticks, the swishing sound of the wire brushes was perfectly rendered. That's a rare feat; brushes usually sound like a hissing noise, but here on the BP-8060ST, the brushes sound like they do in real life."

"unbelievable...Bipolar design really opens up the sound stage"
These speakers are seriously amazing. The crispness and clarity of sound is unbelievable. Bipolar design really opens up the sound stage. Built in subs are tight, articulate and powerful. No shortage of bass. I have these connected via high quality speaker wire with banana plugs only, no LFE innput, and the built in crossover handles blending of the highs, mids and lows perfectly. They are powered by an Integra 135wpc amp and can play louder than one can comfortably stand to listen. I have a monster power htps7000mkII power conditioner which everything plugs into off center from the listening position so the 6' power cable that came with the speakers is inadequate to reach for ideal speaker placement. Soon I will replace with a 10' audioquest power cable for optimal positioning of the speakers. I have the full home theater setup with the CS8060HD center and SR8040 surrounds along with an additional Supercube Referece Sub for extra punch for movies as I have a large room with a less than ideal shape. Many have commented my home theater setup sounds better than a cinema experience but I find listening to music more pleasurable through just the BP-8060ST towers in direct/stereo mode. These are truly worth the high cost, one will not be disappointed for a speaker anywhere near this price range and even sound better than some speakers I auditioned which cost more. Are there better speakers? Ya, but I'm not made of money. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. If you value quality audio you owe it to yourself to give these speakers a listen.
"literally BLOWN AWAY"
Well first off I have never had decent speakers before this purchase.I did alot of research on speakers and in my search I always came across someone or a review saying how great deftech's were...:-) I wanted towers and after going into best buy a few times too hear the 8060's I was totally sold on bipolar towers. These are used mainly for movies and some music.I also have a pro center 1000 I use with these towers.Once I got these home and broke them in a bit I have been literally BLOWN AWAY by them....:-) Anything I own I baby to death...lol...so I expect too own these for a very long time.If you are in the market for speakers...any speakers...give any and all deftech's a listen....especially these towers....in my opinion the clear high's and bass these deliver I won't need anything else....except 2 pro monitors 1000's for surround when I can afford it....:-) ....I'm going too be a def tech owner for life....and it's because of how good they are.
"totally awesome"
I had the opportunity to purchase the Def Techs 8040 until I listened to the 8060's. I went with the 8060's with the Mytho's [XTR]50, Surround 8040 and Mythos XTR with the Denon 2311 Receiver. The sound is totally awesome. Listening to music has a whole new experience. The highs are so crisp and the bass like listening to a bass drum being hit right in the same room with you. Surround sound on blu ray movies are so crisp and clean. Best purchase I have ever made.
"I recommend these to anyone"
WOW. I work at a big electronics retailer. I heard these and had to have them. They sound very clear even at very loud volumes. I recommend these to anyone who demands the best from their sound systems like I do.
"AWESOME"
Without a doubt the best purchase I could have made. I brought a pair this past Christmas. Paired them with my Pioneer Elite 35 using Audio Quest speaker cables. Needless to say the sound is "AWESOME". Instruments sound alive, the bass is tight and vocals come across as if the artist is right there in the room with you. If you have not made up your mind on a new set of speakers please check out the 60's. You will be glad you did.
"I really didn't know how much music I was missing."
Well I have been listening to these for 2 days and well let me say they are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned. I went from a tower speaker made by a competing company which name starts with Kli and these blow those out of the water. I only had those speakers for a few years but once I heard these I had to buy them. The imaging is spectacular, you can close your eyes and imagine the musicians in the studio with the guitar in the corner the drums in the back and so on. The sound stage is also quite large, these fill my 14x16 front room with ease. Actually these speakers fill most of my home with rich sound even at low levels. The Bp 8060 is a warm speaker without sounding muddy. The description that Def Tech gives is correct you DO NOT need a sub with these speakers at all. If your considering these speakers and "on the fence" trying to figure out if they are worth it, well yes they are. I really didn't know how much music I was missing.
D.S.
I LOVE these speakers! I auditioned the 8060 at a Magnolia Home Theater Center/Best Buy. I was deciding between the Bowers & Wilkins CM9, the Martin Logan EM-ESL, and the Def Tech 8060s. I auditioned each of these for over an hour, using my own music/movie. In the end the best choice was the Def Tech 8060s. The EM-ESL were thrown out after the first listen (I did not like these at all!). So the choice was between the CM9 and the 8060. I went back and forth for over an hour between these 2, throwing everything I could at them. In the end the CM9 sounded great, but they always sounded like the music was coming from "over there" where the speaker was sitting. The 8060 gave me a more expansive sound stage, making it feel like the actual performer was right in front of me and the sound was all around me (due to the biopolar output). So, the 8060 outperformed those other speakers which were also priced higher than these (the EM-ESL speakers are about the same price but slightly higher, and the CM9 was $1000 more). Once I got them home they sounded just as good as in the store. The only downside (even though I don't consider it one) is that I feel with these built in powered subs, I don't think they are as much base as adding a standard normal external sub to a pair of speakers. However, these speakers still put more than more base for me than I will ever need and the added bonus was that I did not have to buy speakers and then an additional sub. Overall I would strongly recommend these speakers to anyone looking to buy a more upgraded/refined speaker. These are definitely worth every penny!
I have the BP-8060ST towers, CS-8060HD center and SR-8040BP for rears and all I can say is WOW! I have owned Klipsch and Polk in the past and Def Tech is on a completely different level then Klipsch, Polk and frankly any other speaker I have heard. The towers do an amazingly great job at taking the guess work out of crossover - the bass is tight and loud and blends with the mids perfectly and the bipolar design really fills the room with sound. The center is amazing at dialogue and handles its own very well in the bass dept as well. The rears are fantastic as well - the bipolar design really makes movies come to life. Awesome products.
I love my def tech 8060st tower speakers. They do everything well from movies to music. Highs and mids are smooth neutral and not too bright. Low end is wow in your face tight fast and impactful. Watching unstoppable with subs set set to 12oclock shook the house all my pictures shifted. My friend finally after 10years gave me a holy s$&t!!!! Job well done def tech keep up the great products at competitive prices. My current system is def tech 8040 center 8060st towers Bp 1.2x surrounds. My only gripe are the sack like grills wrinkle easy. Best I've owned so far and I've had Polk, 80's AR and ADS ,Klipsch,Mirage and Mission.
