The Mythos ST SuperTower® combines stunningly beautiful design and precision fit & finish with jaw-dropping ultra high-end performance. No loudspeaker before them has achieved the balance of beauty and brawn at anywhere near their modest price. The Mythos ST's magic starts with a sleek and sexy polished black cabinet mounted on a
beautiful polished granite base and continue with our most advanced components and technologies. Topping off the ground-breaking design is the incorporation of SuperCube™ powered subwoofers right into the enclosures. With two built-in 300 Watt powered subwoofers you'll enjoy double the bass while saving floor space and enhancing the beauty of your room.
The Case for Integrated Subwoofers
Besides eliminating the need for a floor space hogging separate subwoofer, integrated subs offer dramatic performance benefits. First is the obvious benefit that you'll have two subwoofers in the room instead of just one for simply more bass output. Most importantly the subwoofers are perfectly integrated with the mid/high section. Audiophiles often spend dozens of hours moving and adjusting their subwoofers' crossover and phasing controls in pursuit of perfect subwoofer to main speaker "blending." With the Mythos ST you won't have to go through that kind of hassle to get audio perfection. Definitive's engineers have perfectly adjusted the crossover and phase between the subwoofer and main speaker sections to achieve seamless blending and life-like sound. All you have to do is set the bass volume to match your room and taste then sit back and enjoy audio perfection.
Rock-solid Stunning Enclosure
The Mythos ST's styling emanates from a parabolic form, grounded as much in technical appropriateness as visual beauty. With emphasis on a narrow, deep column, the parabolic theme is repeated in the lines of the cap and granite base. There is an unabashed acknowledgement of classic "American Streamline" principles in the ST, communicating motion, direction and clean utility.
The slim, curved shape of the enclosure reduces diffraction contributing to the ST's remarkable imaging that is truly startling in its ability to float utterly lifelike sonic images across a broad and deep soundstage. The granite base combined with the heavy Toroidal transformer mounted on the bottom plate of the enclosure provides a low center of gravity for superior stability. The base incorporates 5 adjustable-height metal feet that may be fitted with either smooth furniture glide tips for wood or ceramic floors or spikes for carpeted floors.
Ultra-high Definition Midrange Drivers
Each Mythos ST contains a D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 5-1/4 inch drivers surrounding a one inch dome tweeter housed in an acoustically isolated sealed enclosure. The drivers feature Definitive's patent-pending Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) technology that supports the speaker cone at both the inner and outer edges for longer, more linear excursion, greater clarity and finely textured inner detail. The driver baskets are die cast Aluminum.
New Generation Tweeter is Revelation
The tweeter is a pure aluminum dome, which has been heat-treated to relax t
he crystal structure and then coated with a ceramic to produce extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess.
Revolutionary Subwoofer System
The subwoofer is built around a 6 x 10 inch racetrack-shaped polymer/carbon composite cone driver powered by a built-in 300-Watt Class D amplifier and pressure-coupled to two 6 x 10 inch racetrack-shaped planar low-bass radiators for a total bass radiating area
and impactful while at the same time having the kind of tight, controlled and accurate response of the finest and costliest audiophile speakers.

Sonic Versatility to Meet Your Every Listening Need The precise accuracy, wide range response and high impact dynamic range of the Mythos ST makes it the perfect choice for systems ranging from audiophile 2-channel music-only to 7.1 channel home theater systems. No matter what genres or music or movies you enjoy a highly accurate loudspeaker like the Mythos ST is your wisest choice.
The Sound Will Amaze You
We could write adjectives all day long in an attempt to describe just how good the Mythos ST sounds and we would fall far short of capturing the experience. If you are a true music lover, you need to hear them for yourself to discover just how lifelike a pair of speakers can sound. You'll hear depth and nuance to your music you have never heard before (unless you own a pair of speakers several times the cost of the ST). You will marvel at the dynamic impact and sheer bass power when watching movies, amazed that all that power is coming from just two small towers without a separate subwoofer. Yes, you will be astonished.

"This is the floor-standing speaker I'd recommend that you buy."
"You'd have to spend gobs more money to get anything else that offers this combination of performance and beauty. The Mythos STs are an audiophile's speaker wrapped in an interior designer's cabinet that sells for much less than you'd expect to pay for either."
"This isn't just an upper-deck shot. Definitive Technology hit this one out of the park."

"...giant killers!"
I bought a Definitive Mythos ST system to downsize from a B & W 802 Diamond surround sound system I had for three years before the Mythos ST speakers. My previous 5.1 system consisted of B& W 802 Diamonds for the front left and right speakers and a B & W HTM-1 center channel with B & W SCMS surround speakers. I sold these speakers on Audiogon and purchased two Mythos ST speakers and three Mythos 10 speakers for the center and surrounds from a Definitive dealer who is a personal friend. I also have a JL Audio Fathom F-113 subwoofer which I kept in the new system and cross over to the Mythos speakers at 40hz.
What amazes me about the new Definitive system is their imaging and clarity. For approximately $11,000.00 less money than the B & W system these speakers do a better job of disappearing and image better than the B & W system.
When listening in stereo they don't have quite the finesse of the B & W 802 Diamoonds with their diamond tweeter in the treble frequencies but come very close.
It is quite surprising to me that a $4000.00 pair of speakers can compete with a $14,000.00 pair of Stereophile Class A rated speakers. In many ways I actually prefer the sound of the Mythos STs because you can become more immersed in the music due to their imaging and ability to disappear. In my listening room, which is 17 ft by 14 ft with a 10 ft ceiling, they seem to have a much larger listening sweet spot.
My electronics that I use to drive this system are Classe Delta series amplifiers; a CA-3200 and a CA-2200 with a Classe SSP-600 processor and Lexicon RT-20 Universal Disc Player.
I love your speakers and really enjoy that I have been able to sell my previous 5.1 speaker system and put money back in the bank! Your speakers are extremely cost effective products and are giant killers!
"The ST's look great and sound better..."
Having previously owned (and reviewed) a system comprised of Def Tech in-walls, we moved to a home that finally allowed me to enjoy a floor-standing system. I did all the necessary research and auditioning, read EVERY review I could find, and purchased the Mythos ST/Mythos 10/Gem XL system. I have now had this for about two months, and I will say that the midrange DEFINITELY blooms after about a month of good hard playing...VERY smooth... VERY natural...Set-up is still a work in progress. I think that you do have to experiment with room placement, ESPECIALLY the distance from the back wall...This has made a huge difference...Also, be sure to run a line level cable (discrete sub out)to them as well; makes a HUGE difference! HOWEVER, I'm sidetracking here...I had my 23 year old daughter sit and listen to some Diana Krall (not an easy task in itself!), and she said that it sounded like we were in a restaurant, and she was performing just for us...Pretty remarkable! These things have a presence that defies belief! The Gem XL's really sneak up on you too. You forget that they're there until they "tap you on your shoulder" to remind you that something is going on behind you...Seamlessly natural driver voicing is undoubtedly responsible for this. My wife can actually understand movie dialogue now, and no longer is constantly telling me to turn it up ("I can't hear what they're saying") one minute, and then to turn it down ("What's wrong with you? It's too loud!") the next. If the fact that I can now watch a movie without being bugged isn't praiseworthy, what is? The ST's look great and sound better...Make sure you audition these!!!
"Five plus plus stars!"
I recently purchased a pair of the Mythos ST's to create a dedicated two channel music system and am thrilled with the sound. I had heard them in an audio showroom about a year ago and was blown away, and finally scraped together the funds. Was a little anxious about how well the sound would hold up in my own home, as one never knows. Plus, the showroom had matched them with components out of my budget. After considerable research and finally settling on a SACD player and hybrid tube/SS integrated amp I held my breath while spinning the first CD, sat back and literally from the first few seconds was overjoyed. The bass response is very tight even with super lows. The midrange is absolutely awesome. Strings are like velvet. Vocals and piano sound like the performer is playing in front of you. Percussion, for example chimes, are delightfully crisp. The overall sensation with these speakers is one of floating with the music. Listening becomes an enveloping experience.
My only slight hesitation is that the high end seems at times to be a bit bright. However I am already noticing after a few hours of listening that those highs are mellowing. Either the speakers are "breaking in" or my ears are just getting accustomed. [Definitive response: speakers do "break in" and get better with use. In a few weeks the performance will reach its peak and stabilize.] Maybe my ears grown up on mainstream components are needing to adjust to a new level of audiophile quality. The combination of these speakers coupled with the SACD player and hybrid amp reveal EVERYTHING. Also, I noticed the speaker placement is crucial. After adjusting my seating location the soundstage improved noticeably, which also tends to mellow out the brightness.
One wonderful feature about the ST's is no need for a subwoofer! I don
"no better speaker in this class"
I have owned the Mythos ST's as well as the Mythos 10 center and surrounds. I replaced a full Dynaudio Audience 82 , 122c , 42w , sub500 speaker package. For theater I have been blown away by the sheer dynamic range these speakers. The Dyn's failed here.
On the music side the Dyn's had the last word with uncanny clarity and the ability to suck you into the musical experience. The ST's do a fantastic job at this as well but don't have that warmth the 82's did.
but as a double duty speaker , they are much better and is what I require out of my speaker package. I only have one system so I have to play both sides of the sword.
I don't run an external sub but if I had a larger room I may add a Supercube reference. My room is 14 x24 and the ST subs fill the room very well.
For me there is no better speaker in this class.
"dazzling"
These are not just speakers. They don't look like traditional speakers and let me tell you, they don't sound like speakers either. I really don't know any other way to describe it than that, the soundstage that these beautiful pillars create is dazzling. The bass would be exceptional for speakers 3 times their size; room filling and extremely precise. They sound good with everything from John Mayer to Kanye West. I have had high end speakers from Klipsch, Infinity, KEF, and even some Definitive BP7002s; so far the Mythos ST's are my favorite.
"Your Company and Customer Service is Outstanding!"
I am driven to write this review on an impulse after listening to my new ST speakers on finding them their perfect place in my house! O.K. let me be forthcoming at the start. I own several Def Tech speakers and just love them. I have always known that music and movies should sound better than what I used to experiencing and always had a yearning for better quality audio. So when I saw the original Def Tech magazine advertisements with the see through pictures and that bi-polar technology I said... mmm! I have tried Infinity, Polk Audio, Energy,... and many other speakers in the past and always thought I was missing something. I usually buy high end receivers and cables..., but always was looking for a great speaker. I actually made up my mind to buy my next brand of speaker from Def Tech just based on their reviews and advertisements!! So, at the first opportunity when I had enough funds, I bought an entire home theater system from a Def Tech dealer without audtioning them! Now, I did read the reviews in several electronic and home theater magazines. Initially I got 2x Bp7002's, 2x BP8B's, a CLR2300 and a Supercube reference. I never used the Supercube until after 4 years of owning it because I thought it too boomy and overkill with the Supertowers. Until I decided to upgrade my subwoofer cable and then heaven! The Supercube and the Supertowers then became a seemless combination. Man was I now happy I got that Supercube after 4 years of cursing the day I bought it. So I decided these guys at Def Tech really know what they are doing! Then I took the plunge and got BP7000sc's. Read my revew on that on this website. In short, the subtle differences between the BP7000sc's and the BP7002's left the hairs standing on my neck. So you may be wondering what the heck this all has to do with the ST's! Well I saw a great deal on a demo pair at an Authorized dealer and jumped at the opportunity to own another high end Def Tech speaker. I played with the positioning and rooms to find the best home for these speakers and ended up using them in my study as music only speakers! Now I work and relax at the same time. The bass is more than I need from these torpedo looking speakers(I got the silver finish!). Great reproduction of source. It is very un-apologetic. It gives back what it receives. Highs are clean, the mid is very pin-ponted and the bass can be heavy to light depending on settings and positioning. I now am rediscovering my music CD's. The great mark of a speaker is that you can turn the volume high or low but still get the quality and enjoyment from clean crisp sound. ...I just ordered silver plated 10 gauge speaker cables to bring out more of those Mythos highs and cleaner mids and base. I may be tempted to write another review when I hook up the speaker wires, unless I can control the impulse! Thanks again Def Tech! Your Company and Customer Service is Outstanding!
"Excelled in every test."
I have been studying speakers for the past 3 years and the Mythos [ST] SuperTowers were the first speakers to actually speak to me. I am still blown away by the clarity and rich bass produced by the towers. Great speakers are sometimes followed by a great warranty and these are, 5 years. I've tested everything from movies, music, games, mp3s and the Mythos STs excelled in every test. I can't say enough about these speakers but I can say they will be in my home for years to come. Thank you Definitive Technology for allowing me to hear music and movies the way they should be heard.
the deftech mythos ST is one incredible speaker this is a true audiophile speaker i use it for my main audio only, the bass is first rate the highs are fabalous and the mids are very clean. i compared this speaker to the b&w 804's, energy veritas 2.4i, 2 speakers i really love and the deftech's st was the clear winner you get so much from this speaker that other speaker just cant do. my system consits of a resolution audio opus 21 cdp, conrad johnson premier 18ls pre amp, conrad johnson mf2500a power amp, harmonic technology truth link interconnects, mit avt1 speaker cables. i had analysis plus oval9 spkr cables but they were not a good match for this setup to much of a good thing in the mid's. in this setup the sound in just unreal very addictive great detail, imaging and transparent its like the spkrs dissapear if you close your eyes i listened to these spkrs after reading the soundstage review on the smaller sts model which were great you cant go wrong with either st or sts just do like i did and listen for your self. this is truly and audiophile speaker but be prepared to stay up late at night listening just one more cd and the next thing you know its 1.00am its all about the music.
All I can say about my outstanding Mythos ST speakers is that shortly after buying them I was working from home using my computer while listening music and suddenly I found myself standing up...The music was so detailed and fantastic that my body could not stay seated any more. How funny. I soon realized I was just doing exactly what King George II himself did the first time Hallelujah Chorus in The Messiah was played before him !!!!!
