The Secret to Their Big Sound
Competing satellite speakers of this size usually have weak lower-midrange response; that part of the audio range that contains the "warmth" and "body" of voices and musical instruments. Listen to a male vocal on typical small satellite speakers and you will instantly hear what we mean. The ProMonitor satellites avoid this critical problem by pressure-coupling our exclusive BDSS technology driver to an equal-sized mid/bass radiator cleverly placed on the top of the satellite. This technique doubles the lower-midrange radiating area of the speaker without increasing the size of the enclosure. Easy to Place, Easy to Use
Small enough to disappear in a room but beautiful when in plain view the 1000 satellites can be shelf-mounted with their unique tri-lobed base, wall-mounted using the built-in keyhole mount or an optional articulating pivot mount or stand mounted with their optional ProStand 1000 floor stands.
The Sound

I already owned a Pro 100 system for my home theater. I finished my basement and bought some less expensive models as this was a music only system. Needless to say after several months I bought 4 ProMonitor 1000s. I am now a Definitive only person. In the future I will no longer waste money on other speakers.
"I could not be happier"
I'm an audio/home theater hobbyist and have been for years. I've owned many different setups, but have always admired DefTech from afar. Recently I picked up a full set of Procinemas with the 2000 center, and I could not be happier. This was to be a small family room setup, and I had plans to build a custom theater in the basement eventually. Now, I honestly don't see the need. With a good subwoofer, these speakers fill a medium sized room with gorgeous sound. Never too harsh. To impress friends, I play a bit of the blu-ray dvd "Master and Commander", and I literally watch as my friends jump and flinch from the realistic sound coming out of these little speakers. These speakers seem to be loafing along even at high volumes, while it sounds like my walls are about to fall in. Thats when the wife gives me that look,,,You know the look. If you audition these speakers at a store and they dont amaze you, something is probably not set up correctly. Buy em and try em at home.. you can always return them.....but you won't. I am a DefTech fan for life. Thank you very much!
"I was absolutely stunned by the performance"
I purchased one pair of ProCinema 1000's and a ProCenter 2000 to replace an aging set of Paradigm Studio 80's with a matching center speaker. Although the Paradigms were more than 10 years old, they did pack a good punch for both music and movies. Looking at the size of the Def Tech's, I was very skeptical if these speakers would even come close to the sound of the Paradigms. After mounting the speakers and running the auto EQ set-up, it was time to see what these speakers could do tied in with my Def Tech PF-15 subwoofer. I started by playing one of my favorite CD tracks loaded with dynamics, and, I was absolutely stunned by the performance of these speakers, almost unbelievable. They actually sounded clearer than my aging Paradigms, all the dynamics were there, I was lacking nothing that was noticeable to me. My listening room is 24' x 12' and these guys filled the room right up with excellent imaging and detail. I just could not believe the performance coming from a $440.00 pair of speakers. Def Tech, you certainly did your homework on these speakers. Thank you!

Holy Toledo!!! This system rocks!!!
I went to the home theater solutions store and compared several speakers. After many visits and comparing them I noticed that the sound quality could not be beat by other floorstanding speakers. I purchased ProMonitor 1000 for the left, and right. And a ProCenter 2000, for the center. For surrounds are the ProMonitor 800. Thought I would beef up the bass and went witha SuperCube 111. All I can say is Holy Toledo!!! These speakers sound so much better than the mall cinema we go to regularly. Usually it's a let down because at home the sound is ten thousand times better than at the movies. The sound quality is so great it's hard to believe the sound is coming from a bookshefl speaker. I felt the bass vibrate me and out of curiosity I turned the sub off and still I was feeling the low bass frequency hitting me. This system has so much clarity, punch, and grrrrrret sound that's it's a magical experience.

I went to the store looking for a new speaker system to replace a BOSE setup. The salesman introduced me to the Definitive Technology speakers, all I can say is WOW! I purchased the Promonitor 1000's for the front, Procenter 1000 for the center, Prosub 1000 for the woofer, and the Promonitor 800's for the rear. The sound is absolutely amazing! I have a family room that is open into the kitchen with 10' ceilings and was worried they would not fill the room. No worries now, the house rattles and even my wife loves it! You will hear sounds from movies you have never heard before. Also your music will never sound better! I would definately recommend these awesome speakers to anyone!

My introduction to Def Tech started when I ran into an issue streaming music to my Family Room setup which paired a HK 320 with a set of Infinity Entras. While this setup was decent for movies, I was a little disappointed with how my music sounded, especially in the mid range area. After trolling the internet, I came across Def Tech and all of the positive reviews from their owners. Then I checked the company's prices and found that they were very affordable. My next step was a trip to the local Best Buy to hear what all the "fuss" was about. Needless to say, less than 30 minutes later, I'm walking out the door with two ProMonitor 1000s and a ProCenter 1000. Got these bad boys home, configured my HK and was instantly transported to a place that I have never been. I was so amazed at the clarity of my music that I decided to upgrade the ProCenter 1000 to the 2000. I will never, ever consider buying anything else except Def Tech and if you are in the hunt for new speakers, end your search here.

I have the Promonitor 1000's in the front with a procenter 1000. I have the Promon 800's in the rear coupled with the supercube III subwoofer. What an amazing setup these satellite speakers are. Small and elegant yet ferocious with clarity and depth. The supercube really ties this system together quite nicely. What a great line of speakers to own. Definitive for life!

We just recently finished our basement. I was going to use my old surround speakers, which still work. I bought the Pro 600 Home Theater set and Pro Monitor 1000 for the front and I used the 600s for the surround and back, for 7.1 Surround. The sound is just amazing. I cannot believe the difference in these speakers. I am so glad I did a little research and found Definitive Tech. I will be hard pressed to switch to a different speaker. Thank you DT, I love my new speakers.

I'm using the PM1000s as surrounds, to go with SM350 fronts, CLR 2002 center, and ProSub 800 in a small living room. I originally had PM800s as the surrounds, and they are really good, but I think that the extra depth I get with the 5.25" drivers is a more balanced fit. The PM800s have found a home on the bedroom wall, as I've recently upgraded the whole system in that room as well.
I've been buying speakers for 40 years, and have owned many different brands and models. I have never been as impressed with an entire line of products, across the board, like I am now with Def Tech. Every model that I've bought, or auditioned, is excellent.

I own a Procinema 800 system and added a ProSub 1000 to boost the bass (dual-sub setup). I have read several reviews on this site and others, where Promonitor 1000's are used for the fronts and the 800's are utilized as surrounds. I decided to copy their lead and see if a noticeable difference could be heard.
I contacted Chet (at Definitive; very good advice source) to ask technical questions about this speaker combination. He recommended an 80Hz crossover with both subs set at 80 also. After these adjustments were made I was astonished to hear more detail and clarity than I heard on larger speaker systems. I cant wait till the 1000's are broken in (only owned for two days)!!!

These speakers are indeed very nice, definitely having the warmth and body that is advertised with this series. However, the upper range and low lows are slightly lacking. I bought a pair of these guys and loved them, until I went back into the store and auditioned the studio monitors right next to these ones. Whenever the studio monitor 350's were switched on, it felt like somebody was removing foam from in front of the speakers. They sound much more open and colorful than the promonitor 1000's, but if you want to stay in the series, these are the way to go.
Well yes, a larger speaker like an SM350 or the new SM45 or SM55 will definitiely have better bass and an overall "bigger" sound. But I think you agree that when the speaker has to be really small or wall mounted, ProMonitors are the way to go.
